Goodbye Shoes

I thought these illustrations were so clever
Perhaps if I had the time, I would come up with witty sayings and illustrate my favourite shoes that have bit the biscuit.

Know Your Shoe

The Osborn shoe company consists of way more than just beautiful handmade shoes from Guatemala. The Osborn shoe company was established through combining humanitarian efforts with a fashion project. The shoes are made by 30 skilled artisans. Each shoe is hand cut and assembled by hand and signed by its maker.

"Our mission here at Osborn is to do good with good design. Osborn offers the marketplace a unique collection of handmade footwear cultivated with positivity, hope and dedication...
With artistic freedom being key, Osborn operates outside the traditional bounds of fashion's seasons,  completing many capsule collections throughout the year, each exploring different ideas, but always filled with the inspiration that drives our company: artistic grit, a folk-urban aura, playful unexpected associations, and of course, hardy craftsmanship."

Firenze Girono 34

Today, a classmate and I visited Roberto Ugolini. In a previous post I mentioned about a group project that we are doing in which we needed to find a company that had a labour intensive product. Therefore we thought of highlighting a local artisan. His shop is very interesting and full of gorgeous handmade shoes. You can tell he really takes pride in his work and never skips any detail when it comes to what his client wants. We interviewed an intern there, Allen, whom answered all of our questions and told us the whole process of what it takes to make a shoe. The process takes time as the client must come in to get their foot measured, then a wooden from must be made- therefore the shoe isn't really ready until 8 or so months later, (but completely worth it!).
After the interview we walked around the Centre only to find that there was some sort of car thing going on (yes- car thing). They had blocked some of the roads and antique, vintage, and luxury cars drove by waving at people and honking their horns. I really wish I knew what even was going on so I could try to explain it a bit better...
Anyhow I capped the hot and sunny day off with gelato: opera and nutella

Salvatore vs. Jeffery

Yesterday while on Facebook, LF stores posted this photo (the second one). I immediately thoguht that they were taking a picture of a pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. However, I was wrong once I read the caption that said- Jeffery Campbell!
The first picture is a pair of shoes from Salvatore Ferragamo and the second is a pair from Jeffery Campbell's new collection. I do like to find where designers got their inspirations from, but this looks like a pretty close copy to me.
