Matthew Williamson Pre-Fall '12

Matthew Williamson showed his talents in his Pre Fall collection, with the colours, textures and shapes it was hard to pin point my favourite look. I am in love with the the printed pants though (and I really hope they make their way into my closet....)

Charlotte Olympia Spring 2012

I first heard of Charlotte Olympia when she did a collaboration with Matthew Williamson for his S/S '12 show (pictured above).
So I did some searching and found some pictures of her S/S '12 collection. Inspired by Beverly Hills and Miami, this collection is an ode to luxury- just see the ornate shoes pictured below! Her best known item, the perspex clutch is renewed with feathers and changeable little pouches.

Firenze Giorno 183- A Very Interesting Weekend...

So I havent done a post about my life in Florence in sometime, so I thought that this weekend was a quite exceptional. Starting from Friday, my huge paper on Matthew Williamson was due, the first two pictures are my cover that I beaded for the book (cover is muslin with a bright orange lining!) and a screenshot of my first page. I was really happy on how all the graphics turned out, I impressed myself- who knows, there might be hope for me to do some graphic design in the near future. After class was finished, I came home to find that my kitchen was on fire- it was a great end to my week! So it consisted of me running out on the street looking for a fire extinguisher and some guys who could put an end to the expanding flames that were slowly engulfing our kitchen! The fire was an electrical one, caused by too many plugs in a socket- all I can say is that it could have been A LOT worse.
Following the fire, I headed to my friends house for a dinner and then we went to a college party in a park. That was interesting, it was for the agricultural students at the University of Florence- very good people watching there! I had no idea there were so many young people in Florence (I dont know where they have been all hiding....)
Following the party, we went to a deli of sorts where we got fresh made sandwiches (mozzarella and prosciutto)--amazing!
My Saturday started at one p.m, it felt good to finally sleep in and not have to worry about writing a paper or trying to finish up work. My friend Matt celebrated his birthday, so we met up and had an apertivo followed by going to one of his favourite spots- yag bar, in the centre.

MW by Matthew Williamson

Matthew Williamson's diffusion line (even though he prefers it to be called sister line...), MW launched last week in NYC. The line has approx 250 pieces and an average price point of $400- $560. It is hitting stores now and will be hanging next to lines such as twenty8twelve and see by chloe. The line has less of a high street glamour look (which the mainline is known for) and its focus is on a more urban contemporary feel.

Art Deco Inspired

Leave it to Matthew Williamson to create such a gorgeous and intricate clutch. It is available now at net-a-porter.com
Funny enough I used to have those spring like beads when I was younger!

Matthew Williamson Resort '12

Taking his inspiration from the Far East, Matthew Williamson channeled Japan when it came to his prints, shapes, and silhouettes. There were loose kimono-esque frocks that were belted with what looked like traditional Japanese obis. And his prints included flowers and use of traditional landscape Japanese watercolour painting.
In usual fashion, Matthew finished the collection with a gorgeous sequin dress :)

Firenze Girono 52

So today we got a very time consuming task assigned by a professor. We had to pick a lable (the one we want to intern for) and bring it to class. I couldn't decided between Matthew Williamson and Zimmermann- but I ended up gong with Matthew Williamson (his kaftan is pictured above!). Our professor then told us this is going to be a 250 page project in which 100 pages are images, it is due in July.
I now know how I will be spending my nights...

Matthew Williamson for Macy's

Here are my picks from the line that Matthew Williamson has created for Macy's. All items are under $300- which is a steal if you know his runway prices. Looking through the collection, my favourite thing has to be the first dress pictured- and its $99!! The leather jacket is also a great piece as it could be a real staple in your wardrobe and worn with different options. There are other prints in the collection, but to me they are a bit kitschy and young and slightly disappointing coming from Williamson (as his collections have been known for prints...). I am not completely sold on this collection, but I love to see designers offering cheaper (and more affordable) pieces!

couldn't agree more

Matthew Williamson just launched his bridal line, but we suspect he won’t be dressing Kate Middleton. “Kate isn’t a fashion bunny,” [Williamson said.] “I don’t know why everyone in fashion is waiting to see what she wears. I’m, like, thinking: get over it.” {Telegraph UK}
