Firenze Girono 24

When you move to Italy, you must get a Codice Fiscale (permit of stay), you should get this soon after you have moved. However with travelling and my class schedule, today was really the best time for me to get it. Other girls in my class have said that it takes awhile and you sit in a room and wait until your number gets called, however the actual process of getting the number is quite quick. There are also forms that you need to fill out.
So I decided to wake up early and go to the permit of stay office- which google maps said would be approx 53min walk, took me 30mins? Could have been the fact that I was practically running and weaving through crowds and such, I had to laugh to myself because a friend of mine posted this on my facebook wall a month ago saying that I could have pioneered this "sport"- aggressive walking (see video)

I almost took out an old lady on the street today, I am not going to lie...

Anyhow- I went to the place to get my permit of stay, I walked in- saw the people all waiting around and the number machine, people sleeping on couches and others pacing...
Then there was an info booth, so I made my way over to that and said I was here to get my Codice Fiscale, and could he help me. The man didn't speak any English, but motioned for me to follow him. He mumbled (and not in any kind of language-it was just jibberish) and pointed to the number machine and took out a number from it.
Here I am thinking...oh great, I am going to have to wait in this crowded room
Nope!
He then motioned for me to follow him and we went through a couple of rooms and then he sat me down at a desk with a worker at it. Slightly confused about this and wondering if this is a normal process or not?
The worker asked for my passport and within 3 minutes I was out the door with my permit of stay, no waiting, no number calling (even though I had this number?), and no forms
I kind of felt like a celebrity skipping everyone- I think its the blonde hair...
Unfortunately my happiness didn't last long, as it began to pour down rain and I was far from home. Guess it was ironic that I thought to myself -I should have brought an umbrella, half way through my brisk walk to the permit of stay office.

Firenze Girono 14

So these pictures above are from previous days because too be honest, the weather was horrible today and I had a full day of classes 9-6pm (fashion history, fashion economics, and a discussion class). Nothing really exciting happened today as most of us were trying to stay warm and dodge the rain.
However when I was walking back from my apt to school I saw this boy on a motorcycle look back at me, I noticed, he looked again and almost ran into the back of a nice mercedes in front of him- and that was the highlight of my day :p
I had Fashion Economics today, and me and economics don't really mix- so I was a bit hesitant on how to view the class. Luckily it turned out a lot better than what I had envisioned. The professor really made the class interesting and one of my favourite quotes from him was- " never trust a person who is tanned all year long". He then further elaborated on how you shouldn't trust males who paint their fingers with clear polish/well kept hands. Sometimes the topics we talk about are very interesting and oddly he went on to talk about industry people he has met and how they fit this stereotype.
So far, I haven't any plans for the weekend really, there might be a possible IKEA (!!!) trip on sunday, and tomorrow evening all the girls in my class are getting together for a bbq. Its going to be potluck style, and I decided to bring the dessert- there is going to be chinese and japanese food as well as pizza- lots to choose from!
