I found this great d.i.y for a doily lamp. Its super easy to make:
a) blow up a balloon (preferably extra large)
b) take paper mache glue or wallpaper glue and doilies (ones that are light and have lots of holes work best as glue might dry and fill spaces) and paste onto balloon
there are a couple techniques to pasting them on- you can do the top first- let that dry and then turn in over and do the rest.
c) hang balloon over night
d) place bulb inside by cutting a little tear on the top and then sewing shut
